When was the last time you had your Air Conditioning system cleaned or serviced? 6 months, a year, never?! Well, now is the time to book in with JFK Electrical, Solar & Air.
As another year fly’s past, how many of us remember to look after our air quality. We remember to clean the physical things in our homes but not the air we are breathing.
We’re well and truly into winter now with the cold mornings forcing us to head straight for our heating as soon as our alarms tell us to leave our nice warm beds. Now is the perfect time to book in a deep clean and an inspection to make sure you are receiving optimal air quality, efficient operation, less power consumption, and longer system life.
With the Flu currently circulating in our community as well as the seasonal cold and Covid-19, it’s imperative to have good air quality whenever possible. We need to protect ourselves and our families from all types of viruses, allergies and diseases caused by contaminated airflow in air conditioning units.
Unfortunately, heating and cooling systems are prime breeding grounds for moulds, allergens and bacteria. When systems are not maintained correctly, they become the perfect device for harbouring and spreading these germs throughout the air in your home or business.
Cleaning and flushing your system regularly will ensure you get the most out of your air con. Most importantly, your system will be disease and allergy-free!
How often should you clean your Split System Filters?
As a general rule, you should be cleaning your Split System filters every two weeks, this can vary depending on how many people and pets live in the home.
Please read the User Manual for your unit before trying to remove the filters, this can prevent any issues or breakages. A vacuum cleaner can be used to remove the build-up of dust on the filters or by washing them with lukewarm water. Leave them to dry out of direct sunlight before placing them back into your unit.
When Should My Air Conditioner Be Serviced?
We recommend a professional deep chemical clean and service should be scheduled every 6 months, 12 months at the very most on split system air conditioners. For ducted systems, filter cleaning and system checks should be carried out at the same intervals. Both systems can suffer from a decline in performance if neglected and not properly maintained. If it’s been more than 6 months, it’s time to get your air conditioner back to peak performance.
